A brushing routine that actually sticks
Most people already know they should brush twice a day. The hard part is doing it on the busy days. A few small tweaks make it automatic.
Almost everyone knows the advice: brush twice a day, two minutes each time. The knowing isn't the problem. Mornings get rushed and nights get late, and the routine slips before you notice.
What tends to work better than willpower is attaching the habit to something you already do without thinking.
Make it automatic
- Pair it with a fixed moment — right after your morning coffee, right before you get into bed.
- Leave your toothbrush where you'll see it, not tucked away in a drawer.
- Two minutes feels long at first. Play one song and brush until it ends.
A few things worth getting right
A soft-bristled brush does the job, and it's gentler than you'd think a stiff one needs to be. Hard scrubbing doesn't clean better — it mostly wears things down. Let the bristles do the work with small, easy movements.
Swap the brush (or head) every few months, or sooner once the bristles start to splay out.
